Thunder Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, separated
1 c. cold water
1/3 c. tomatoes, pureed
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 c. dry cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar, then cream in vanilla, egg yolks, cold water and pureed tomatoes, in that order.
Sift together dry ingredients; mix into creamed mixture.
Beat egg whites until they are stiff, then fold into batter.
Bake in two greased and floured 8 1/2-inch round pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
Frost with a chocolate butter frosting.
Top with strawberries.
