Vidalia Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 medium Vidalia onions, sliced 1/4-inch thick
    12 saltines, crushed
    4 oz. stick margarine and 1 Tbsp. (for greasing dish)
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    2 eggs
    1/2 to 3/4 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheese
Preparation
    Melt margarine on medium heat and saute onions until clear and tender. Butter 2-quart 8 x 11 x 2-inch casserole dish. Reserve 3 tablespoons crumbs for topping. Line dish with remaining crackers. Add onions and soup, alternating until dish is full. Cover with beaten eggs and pour milk over top. Sprinkle with grated cheese and crackers. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.
