Fay'S Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sugar
    3 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. milk
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt into top of double boiler. Stir in cold milk. Cook over boiling water until thickened, stirring constantly. Cover and cook 15 minutes longer. Stir a little of hot mixture into the slightly beaten egg yolks, then add this to all the remaining mixture in double boiler. Cook for 2 minutes over hot (but not boiling) water, stirring constantly. Cool. Add vanilla. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped shredded coconut into cream filling before pouring into baked pie shell. Pour mixture in baked pie shell. Add meringue. Bake 15 minutes at 325\u00b0.
