Ingredients

1/2 c. boiling water
1/8 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Pet Milk
1/2 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 egg, well beaten
3 3/4 c. flour (approx.)
Preparation

Pour boiling water over shortening, sugar and salt.
Add milk and cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in the half cup lukewarm water and add to cooled mixture with the beaten egg.
Stir in 2 cups flour.
Beat.
Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
Place in greased bowl; grease top of dough; cover and chill until ready to use.
Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into squares and fry a few at a time in hot oil, brown on both sides.
Do not let dough rise before frying.
Drain and roll in powdered sugar.
