Scratch Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. flour
    3/4 c. corn meal
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    2/3 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. lard or oil
Preparation
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in shortening, milk and egg.
    Add to dry ingredients.
    Stir only long enough to mix.
    Pour into greased pan (8 x 8-inch) and bake at 425\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Butter top when done.
    Serves 6.
