Pink Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/3 c. crushed canned pineapple
    1 c. orange juice
    1/2 c. lemon juice
    1 bottle dry white wine or champagne
    1/2 c. maraschino cherries and juice
Preparation
    Combine the sugar and water; stir until dissolved (clear). Boil for 10 minutes.
    Let cool for 30 minutes.
    Mix in the pineapple and orange and lemon juices.
    Add wine and chill at least 2 hours.
    At serving time, pour over ice in a punch bowl. Add cherries, stirring lightly.
    Taste.
    If too tart, add sugar. If too sweet, add more wine or club soda.
