Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation

Simmer raisins in water 20 to 30 minutes until plump.
Drain raisins and pour liquid into measuring cup, adding enough water to make 1/2 cup.
Set aside.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla, then raisin liquid.
Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture, then add oatmeal, nuts and raisins.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes or until light brown at 400\u00b0.
Yields 6 to 7 dozen.
