Cherry Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
    8 oz. softened cream cheese
    1 c. softened butter or oleo
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 c. coarsely chopped pecans
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    4 eggs
    2 c. unsifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    8 oz. maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Grease a 10-inch tube or Bundt pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans.
    In a large mixing bowl, beat the cheese, butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to batter and mix well. Stir in the cherries and coarsely chopped pecans.
    Pour into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
    Cool for 5 minutes and remove from pan.
    Garnish and frost as desired.
    Makes one 10-inch cake.
