Soft Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 C. raisins
    3/4 C. water
    1/2 C. shortening
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. allspice
    1 C. sugar
    2 small eggs
    2 1/8 C. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Simmer raisins in water for 5 minutes. Strain and save 1/4 cup of liquid. Cool raisins. Blend shortening, spices, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt and add to creamed mixture and mix well. Add reserved liquid from raisins and then raisins. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on to cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
