Apple Crisp - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 to 6 cooking apples
    sugar to taste
    about 1/2 c. water
    1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1/2 c. butter
    chopped nuts (if desired)
Preparation
    Slice the apples into a baking dish. Add sugar to taste and the water.
    Mix together.
    Combine the 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar, flour, butter and nuts (if desired) and pour this crumbly mixture over the apples. Bake slowly for at least 1 hour at 300\u00b0.
    Serve hot or cold with whipped topping or ice cream.
