French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 Tbsp. butter
    7 c. sliced onion
    1/4 c. flour
    2 to 3 c. grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese
    6 c. water and 5 Tbsp. tamari or 6 c. beef stock
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 c. dry white wine
    6 slices toasted French bread
Preparation
    In a large saute pan, heat oil, butter and saute onions until golden brown (10 to 15 minutes).
    Sprinkle flour over onions and blend well.
    Add the water and tamari or beef stock.
    Add bay leaves and wine.
    Simmer for 1 hour.
    Before serving place one slice of toast in each bowl, sprinkle with cheese and broil just long enough to melt cheese and brown slightly (5 minutes).
