Queen Elizabeth'S Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 pkg. pitted dates, cut into pieces
1 tsp. soda
1 c. boiling water
1/2 stick margarine
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. pecans or black walnuts

Preparation

Sprinkle soda over dates.
Pour boiling water over dates and soda.
Add margarine.
Stir and let cool.
Add egg.
Sift together flour, sugar and salt; add to date mixture.
Stir in pecans or walnuts.
Bake in greased pan for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
