Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    4 egg yolks, beaten
    3 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. blackberry jam
    4 egg whites, beaten
Preparation
    Cream butter.
    Add sugar gradually, beating until well blended. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
    Add egg yolks.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture.
    Stir in vanilla and jam.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in a tube pan at 300\u00b0 for 15 minutes, then at 360\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
