Kosher Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    dill
    garlic
    alum
    2 qt. water
    1 qt. vinegar
    3/4 c. pickling salt
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers and pack in jars, leaving 1-inch headspace. To each jar, add 1 head of dill, 1 button garlic and a pinch of alum, the size of a pea.
    Mix water, vinegar and pickling salt; bring to a boil.
    Pour over pickles and seal.
