Date Roll Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. milk
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 1/2 c. chopped dates
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt, milk and butter.
    Boil until sugar is dissolved.
    Add dates and stir constantly until soft ball occurs when tested in a cup of water.
    Remove from fire and cool.
    Beat until creamy and thick; add nuts, mixing thoroughly.
    Pour onto cold wet cloth and knead until smooth.
    Shape into roll and chill until firm.
    Cut into thin slices.
