Chinese Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 cans whole beets
    1 c. sugar
    2 level Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 c. vinegar
    24 whole cloves
    3 Tbsp. catsup
    3 Tbsp. cooking oil
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. beet juice
Preparation
    In a large pan, dump in sugar and cornstarch.
    Mix well.
    Add vinegar, cloves, catsup, oil and vanilla.
    Stir well again.
    Add beat juice. Cut beets into bite size pieces and add to fluid. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens.
    Cool and refrigerate.
