Doris' Seven-Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, shredded
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
    1 green pepper, chopped fine
    1 sweet onion, sliced
    1 pt. Hellmann's mayonnaise
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 lb. Cheddar cheese
    1 (3 oz.) jar bacon bits or 1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
Preparation
    Shred lettuce into large serving bowl.
    Over this, put peas, green pepper and onion.
    Put mayonnaise on top, sealing edges well.
    Sprinkle sugar on top and spread cheese evenly.
    Add bacon, cover and refrigerate overnight.
