Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 Tbsp. cooking oil
    3/4 c. onion, chopped
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/8 tsp. garlic
    1 can tomatoes
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. cooked rice or noodles
    2 to 3 slices cheese, cut in 1/2-inch squares
Preparation
    Brown meat in oil.
    Add onion.
    Cook until tender.
    Stir in all ingredients, except cheese.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
    Spoon into baking dish; top with cheese.
    Broil until cheese is melted.
