Divinity - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1/8 tsp. salt
2 egg whites
1 tsp. powdered sugar
Preparation

In saucepan, mix the sugar, syrup, water and salt.
Slowly bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
Cook to 50 on candy scale (in between soft and hard stage).
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Gradually pour hot syrup into whites, beating constantly.
Beat until candy begins to hold its shape.
Beat in vanilla and powdered sugar.
(This amount of powdered sugar makes a real improvement in texture.)
Drop from teaspoon onto waxed paper, or pour into buttered pan.
Let stand several minutes until firm.
Store in airtight container.
Makes 50 pieces.
