Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or Crisco
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. black walnuts, chopped
    1 3/4 c. sifted plain flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 c. thick sweetened applesauce
    1/2 c. chopped cherries
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Beat in egg.
    Add walnuts and raisins that have been rolled in 2 tablespoons flour, taken out of the flour.
    Sift flour, salt, soda and spices together.
    Stir into the butter mixture; add applesauce.
    Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 or 9-inch layer pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 until done.
