Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 bacon slices, diced
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 c. cubed, pared potatoes
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    8 crushed soda crackers
    dash of pepper
    3 (7 1/2 oz.) cans minced clams
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    In medium kettle, saute bacon until almost crisp.
    Add onion; cook until tender, 5 minutes.
    Add potatoes, salt, pepper and 1 1/2 cups water.
    Cook, covered, for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
    Add clams and liquid, milk and butter and cook 3 minutes. Sprinkle in crackers and heat through.
    Do not boil.
    Serves 8 small or 4 large.
