Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. salt
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    cucumbers for 1 gal.
    1 sliced onion (per qt.)
Preparation
    Place thinly sliced cucumbers and onions in container(s).
    Mix solution cold; pour on cucumbers and cover.
    Refrigerate 5 days, shaking daily.
    Keeps indefinitely in refrigerator.
