Welsh Raisin Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    1/4 c. shortening
    3 eggs
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cover raisins with water and boil for 10 minutes.
    Drain, reserving 1 cup of liquid and return to boiled raisins.
    Add the shortening and set aside to cool.
    When cool, add eggs.
    Sift dry ingredients and add to raisin mixture.
    Pour into 2 greased loaf pans and bake for 1 hour.
    Turn out on rack to cool.
    Can cut 20 to 22 slices.
    Serve buttered.
