Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring
2 1/2 oz. red food coloring
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 1/2 c. cake flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flavors.
Make a paste of food coloring and cocoa and blend in.
Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk.
Add vinegar with last half of buttermilk. Beat only until smooth.
Bake in 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool and frost with no-cook icing.
