Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. nuts, ground
1 c. dates, ground
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Cream shortening and brown sugar thoroughly; add eggs 1 at a time and beat well after each addition.
Add nuts and dates.
Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Shape in rolls 2 inches in diameter.
Wrap in waxed paper and store in refrigerator until firm.
Slice thin and bake 8 minutes at 400\u00b0.
Makes 11 to 12 dozen cookies.
