West Virginia Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1 pt. warm water
1 cake yeast or 2 pkg. dried yeast
1 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
6 c. flour
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 c. powdered milk
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Mix sugar, yeast and water; let stand 10 minutes.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add shortening and cut into flour mixture. Add yeast mixture.
Mix well.
Roll out on floured surface and cut with biscuit cutter.
Let rise 30 to 45 minutes.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
