Fluffy Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 c. butter
    2 eggs, well beaten
    3/4 c. molasses
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. ginger (ground)
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    1 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Sift flour once, measure and add soda, salt and spices and sift 3 times.
    Work butter with spoon until creamy.
    Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs.
    Add 1/4 of flour and blend.
    Add molasses and beat until smooth.
    Add remaining flour and beat well.
    Add boiling water and stir until blended.
    Turn into greased 10 x 13-inch pan and bake in moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
    After cool, may be iced with buttercream frosting, if desired.
