Shepherd'S Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew beef, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
    1 onion, sliced
    1 stalk celery
    6 to 8 carrots, in chunks
    2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. tapioca
    2 c. tomato juice
    4 to 6 medium potatoes, quartered
    1/2 c. sliced mushrooms (optional)
Preparation
    Place ingredients in large casserole dish or Dutch oven in the order given.
    Cover tightly and bake 4 hours in a 250\u00b0 oven. Serves 6 to 8 persons.
