Date Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. evaporated milk
    2 c. chopped pecans
    1 1/2 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Cook sugar and milk over medium heat (stirring constantly) to soft ball stage (235\u00b0).
    Add dates and pecans.
    Let cool.
    Turn into a buttered pan.
    Knead until creamy and stiff.
    Shape into a roll.
    Wrap in damp dish towel or waxed paper.
    Chill and then slice.
    Makes approximately 1 1/2 pounds.
