1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. strawberry preserves
1/2 c. blackberries
1 c. plum jelly
Caramel Icing
Preparation

Grease and flour 2 baking pans.
Cream sugar and butter with mixer in bowl until fluffy.
Add vanilla; blend.
Add eggs; blend. Sift flour, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and baking soda into separate bowl.
Alternately beat flour mixture and buttermilk into creamed mixture.
Stir in preserves and blackberries.
Pour into pans and bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes until done.
Cool; turn out of pans.
Place bottom layer on cake plate.
Spread plum jelly over layer.
Add top layer.
Frost with caramel icing.
