Home Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. navy or pea beans
    1 lb. bacon
    1 lb. brown sugar
    1 c. tomatoes (1 lb. 13 oz.)
    2 medium onions, chopped
    2 tsp. mustard
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Wash and pick over beans.
    Cover with water and soak overnight.
    Next morning, simmer beans in salted water until tender to bite.
    Drain and save water.
    Place in bottom of large bean pot or crock-pot.
    Alternately layer cooked beans with a mixture of brown sugar, tomatoes, onions, mustard, salt and pepper.
    Top with bacon.
    Add enough of water in which beans were cooked to cover beans.
    Cover with lid; cook until tender.
    If using crock-pot, put on low for 8 to 10 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Do not add extra water.
