Mother Hershey'S Sugar Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. lard
    3 eggs
    1 c. sour milk
    5 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. lemon juice
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 scant tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream
    together
    sugar, lard
    and
    eggs.
    Add
    sour
    milk. Sift together flour, baking powder,
    cream
    of tartar, vanilla, lemon juice, nutmeg and salt and add to mixture.
    Chill dough for two hours and then drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet.
    Bake
    at 375\u00b0
    until
    they begin to turn brown.
