Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    2-3 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
    1 egg slightly beaten
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Preheat oven 400\u00b0.
    Cover bottom of 8 x 2-inch iron skillet with oil.
    Set on stove burner and get smoking hot.
    Put dry ingredients into a small bowl.
    Add egg and oil, stir well; pour into hot skillet with oil.
    Place in oven.
    Bake 15 minutes.
    No real southerner would use sugar in cornbread but some prefer it.
