Ingredients
-
2 lb. flour, sifted 3 to 4 times
10 egg yolks
1 pt. sour cream
pinch of salt
3 Tbsp. superfine sugar (can press regular sugar with rolling pin and layer of tinfoil)
4 Tbsp. whiskey (old family recipe calls for this but can be made without)
Preparation
-
Sift flour on table.
Make a well in the middle of the flour. Put all of the ingredients except flour in mixer and beat for about 2 minutes.
Mix a small amount of mixture in center of flour until sticky.
Continue until mixture is gone.
Roll this dough paper thin.
Cut a small rectangle.
Make a slit in the middle and pull one end of rectangle through slit to look like a bow tie.
Fry in hot oil for a few seconds.
Drain on brown paper bags.
Sprinkle with 10x confectioners sugar.
(Usually made for the Christmas season.)
