Rhubarb Oat Mixture - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. old fashioned oatmeal
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. cold butter or margarine
    3 to 4 c. fresh or frozen rhubarb
    1 1/4 c. cold water
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. red food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, walnuts, baking soda and salt. Mix. Cut in cold butter or margarine. Press 3 cups mixture in ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Soak rhubarb in 1 cup cold water for 3 minutes. Drain.
