Custard Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs or 8 egg yolks
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    2 2/3 c. scalding hot milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (9-inch) unbaked crust
Preparation
    Heat oven to 450\u00b0.
    Beat egg slightly.
    Then beat in remaining ingredients.
    Pour into crust.
    Bake 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350\u00b0.
    Bake 10 to 15 minutes more.
    Insert knife 1-inch from side of filling to test.
    If knife comes out clean, custard is done.
    Center will be soft, but will set up as custard cools. Overcooking will make custard watery when cut.
