Apple Surprise - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 c. milk
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 c. cooked or canned apples
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Melt butter in deep skillet or baking dish.
    Mix next 4 ingredients into a batter and pour onto melted butter.
    Drain fruit; add spices and spoon onto batter.
    Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0 until batter covers fruit and browns.
    Fruit settles to bottom and cake rises to top and makes a delicious, moist dessert. Serve plain or topped with cream.
