Quick Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. fine, dried bread crumbs (white, rye or graham) or crushed graham crackers
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 c. seedless raisins (optional)
    2 eggs, well beaten
    2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1 c. molasses
Preparation
    Sift together the dry ingredients in a bowl; mix in bread crumbs.
    Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture looks like meal.
    Stir in raisins.
    Mix together the eggs, buttermilk and molasses; stir into flour mixture until blended. Pour batter into a well-greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan or three 10 x 5 x 3-inch bread pans.
    Bake in preheated 400\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes for oblong or bread pans.
    Serve warm.
    Makes 3 loaves.
