Southern Gal Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg (unbeaten)
    2/3 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift all dry ingredients in bowl.
    Add shortening and blend until size of cornmeal.
    Pour milk into flour mixture slowly.
    Add the egg.
    Stir to a stiff dough.
    Knead on floured surface 5 times.
    Roll or pat to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cut with biscuit cutter.
    Put in greased 9-inch round cake pan.
    Cover tops with 1 tablespoon bacon grease.
    Bake in 450\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes. Makes 9 or 10.
