Apple Ring Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. sliced cucumbers
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. alum
    1 bottle red food coloring (1 oz.)
    5 lb. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    3 pkg. (30 oz. total) red hots (Judson's dissolve best)
    12 sticks cinnamon
    3 c. water
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers, cut in half lengthwise.
    Scoop out seeds with spoon and slice crosswise.
    On first day, peel, seed, slice and soak 24 hours in lime and water.
