Piccalilli - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. (8 lb.) tomatoes, chopped (red or green)
    1 sweet red pepper, chopped
    5 onions, chopped
    1 stalk celery, chopped
    1 Tbsp. cloves
    1 Tbsp. allspice
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. white mustard seed
    1 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 pt. vinegar
Preparation
    Simmer 2 to 3 hours until mixture \"cooks down\".
    Makes 6 1/2 pints.
    Has a wonderful odor while cooking.
    Good to use on meats and turnip salad!
