French Fried Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. cornmeal
    3/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. melted bacon drippings
    1 egg white, unbeaten
    5 Tbsp. milk
    3 large onions
Preparation
    Sift together cornmeal, flour and salt in a bowl.
    Combine 1/2 cup milk, bacon drippings and egg white.
    Add to flour mixture all at once.
    Beat until smooth.
    Add just enough additional milk to make a medium-thin batter.
    Peel, wash and dry onions.
    Cut in 1/4-inch slices.
    Separate onion rings.
    Dip each ring into batter. Fry in oil until golden brown.
    Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle with salt.
