Snapping Turtle Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. turtle meat
    butter or margarine
    1 onion, sliced
    2 c. celery, sliced
    1 c. lima beans, soaked
    3 potatoes, diced
    3 carrots, sliced
    1 can tomatoes
    1/2 c. chopped parsley
    salt and pepper
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Preparation
    Cut up the meat in 1-inch cubes.
    Brown in butter or margarine.
    Place remaining ingredients in a stew pot, add water and bring to a boil.
    Lower heat and simmer for about 30 minutes. Add the turtle meat and cook slowly for 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
