Ingredients

1 (1 lb.) can pear halves, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/4 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 slices white bread (crust removed)
1/4 c. butter or oleo, softened
4 c. milk
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
currant jelly
powdered sugar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Lightly butter a 10 x 10 x 2-inch baking dish.
Toss pears with raisins and cinnamon.
Spread in bottom of baking dish.
Spread bread slices generously with butter.
Cut each slice in half diagonally.
Arrange, overlapping in dish, buttered side up.
In pan, heat milk until bubbles form around edge of pan.
Remove from heat.
Add sugar and salt; stir to dissolve.
