Raised Buckwheat Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 3/4 c. buckwheat flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. molasses
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Scald and cool milk.
    Add yeast; stir until dissolved.
    Stir in flour and salt.
    Stir to a smooth batter.
    Cover and let rise 12 hours or overnight.
    Stir in molasses, soda mixture, egg and shortening.
    Ladle on hot skillet, as with pancakes.
    Serve with hot syrup or bacon gravy.
