Barley Thickened Mushroom Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. mushroom slices (about 1/2 lb.)
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1/3 c. flour
    3 c. water
    2 c. milk
    1/2 c. quick barley
    2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
Preparation
    Saute mushrooms, onion and green pepper in butter.
    Blend in flour; continue cooking until browned.
    Add water gradually with milk.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
    Stir frequently; reduce heat.
    Cover; simmer for 10 to 12 minutes or
    until barley is tender.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
