Saltwater Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/4 tsp. peppermint extract or rum flavoring or few drops oil of cinnamon (optional)
    few drops red food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Butter a 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan; set pan aside.
    Butter the sides of a heavy, 2-quart saucepan.
