Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce torn in bite size pieces
    1 c. chopped celery
    4 hard-cooked eggs
    10 oz. box frozen peas
    1/2 c. pepper (chopped)
    1 or 2 carrots (grated)
    1 medium onion
    8 slices bacon (fried and crumbled)
    2 c. mayonnaise with 2 Tbsp. sugar stirred in
Preparation
    Layer ingredients starting with lettuce on bottom in a long pan.
    Mix mayonnaise and sugar and spread on top.
    Cover with foil and let stand 10 to 12 hours.
    Whe ready to serve, grate some Cheddar cheese on top and garnish with tomatoes.
