Cheese-Onion Spoonbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 tsp. butter
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. corn bread mix
    1 Tbsp. poppy seed
    2 Tbsp. melted butter
Preparation
    Cook onion in 1 teaspoon butter until tender.
    Combine egg and milk in buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
    Stir in cornbread mix.
    Add onion and half of the cheese.
    Sprinkle remaining cheese and poppy seed over the top.
    Drizzle melted 2 tablespoons of butter over top.
    Bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Serve hot.
    Makes 6 servings.
