Not So Hot, But Great Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 garlic clove, diced
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 lb. ground beef
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 tsp. chili powder
    1 can stewed tomatoes
    1 can tomato soup
Preparation
    Saute onion and garlic in shortening.
    Add beef and brown. Salt and pepper to taste.
    Add chili powder, kidney beans and stewed tomatoes.
    Bring to a light boil over medium heat.
    Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
    Reduce heat to simmer.
    Add tomato soup, cover pan and simmer at least one hour.
